A pre-exit, new management and a clear path to continued growth

When it became clear to Rob Langen that succession from within the family was not an option, a new phase started for Elmec. Rob, together with his wife Mieke and their children wanted to secure the continuity of the company whilst preserving its culture and engineering excellence. In Rooth, they found a partner who shared their long-term vision. In 2021, Rooth and a co-investor jointly acquired a majority stake in Elmec, with Rob retaining a share in the company, allowing for a smooth and gradual transition.

Following the transaction, the search for Rob’s successor began. Someone who combined leadership capabilities with deep technical expertise was needed. Through Rob’s network, Wim Hermans was introduced, an experienced manager with more than three decades of industry experience and a passion for engineering. His arrival via a management buy-in felt like a natural next step: he knew the market, understood the customers, and he was familiar with the technical challenges in the industry.

“During the process, one thing was paramount: Elmec had to remain Elmec. With Wim at the helm, our core values remained intact. At the same time, he brought new energy and a fresh outlook on strategy and operations. Under his leadership, and with the backing of our new shareholders, we’ve made targeted strategic progress.”

Since joining forces with Rooth and under Wim’s leadership, Elmec has grown significantly, nearly doubling its revenue through organic growth. Today, the company remains focused on quality of engineering and is widely recognized as a leading expert in its field.
